Eco-friendly Baby Shower Gifts

By Tiffany 3 Comments

I get invited to a lot of baby showers and that means I buy a lot of gifts for new moms. I think it’s really important to give eco-friendly gifts—better for the baby, mom and the environment. To buy eco-friendly baby shower gifts always choose items: • • ·  made from 100% natural materials that are chemical free, or • • ·  made from recycled products, or • • ·  that are Fair Trade products, or • • ·  that are reusable or recyclable. Most baby shower gifts fall into three … [Read more...]

My Zulily Shopping Wish List

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Zulily is a deal site that offers amazing prices on everything from kids toys and clothing to women's clothing, shoes, and home decor. It also happens to be one of my very favorite places to shop because the prices are amazing AND they often have greener product options mixed in among the more conventional. In November I bought some workout clothing, a couple toys for my my youngest kiddo, and some kitchen items like my now beloved cast iron skillet. I consider myself to be a VERY savvy online … [Read more...]

Buckwheat Pillows

By Tiffany 7 Comments

Conventional pillows are often filled with a poly fill made from plastic. Couple that with the fact that they can be doused in chemicals to make them flame retardant and you may have a reason why you have trouble sleeping, have allergies, or have headaches, among other potential issues. Mainstream pillows can also be filled with noxious materials including; a).polystyrene (styrofoam) b). polyurethane foam (petroleum-base poly-fill) and c). polyethylene terephthalate (PET): which is used to make … [Read more...]

Safer Plastic Bath Toys

By Tiffany 15 Comments

Boon has quickly become one of my favorite companies for kids products. Their BPA free bowls and utensils for kids rock, they have an awesome potty bench that we are using, and the design is modern yet slightly retro. The design mom in me loves them. Oh and they are also sticklers for safe plastics that won't poison our kids. They have just come out with some really cute and safe bath toys that are free of BPA, PVC, and phthalates, as have some other companies. Here are some safer bath toy … [Read more...]

Natural and Safe Dolls

By Tiffany 15 Comments

Girls everywhere and some boys too, love to play with dolls. Just take a stroll down the doll aisle at WalMart and you will see what a big business it is...Barbies, Monster High, Cabbage Patch, dolls that swim , and dolls that eat...there are so many options. What most parents may not consider when walking down that aisle is that many of these dolls are toxic. They are often made of dangerous plastics that have PVC and/or Phthalates which can cause numerous health issues. They are often times … [Read more...]
