I Resolve to Make 2013 Another Great Year

By Tiffany 7 Comments

I thought today would be a fitting day to not only get off my duff and come back to work/blogging after a ten day vacation but also to write up a post with my New Year's goals for 2013. If you recall I had three goals or resolutions for 2012 with the main one forming a sort of theme... HAVE MORE FUN!!! Well I knocked that resolution out of the park. Here is a picture of me thoroughly enjoying 2012... Okay so that isn't actually me that picture kinda sums it up though. I took … [Read more...]

The Center of Science and Industry for Summer Fun

By Tiffany 6 Comments

As I mentioned previously we checked an item off our summer fun checklist last week. We went to COSI, which in my mind is a science themed children's museum. It has stuff that the whole family will enjoy but it caters to kids for sure. My husband, 6 year old, and I were invited as part of a local blogger event that introduced us to the early learning program they offer there. We attended the early learning class first off and then spent the afternoon wandering around the museum. We feel … [Read more...]

Homeschool is Cool Resources for December

By Tiffany 5 Comments

December was a short "school" month obviously so I do not have as much to report as far as cool new-to-me resources. But I do have a few. I find that we are not using the Oak Meadow curriculum I bought. I guess even that is too structured for me. I think we are basically a mix of eclectic homeschoolers and unschoolers and we tend to learn in units and based upon our interests. We don't feel like tackling each subject every week (or month) or often times we want to incorporate those subjects … [Read more...]

Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case For A More Joyful Christmas

By Tiffany 46 Comments

Over the holiday weekend I read Hundred Dollar Holiday: The Case For A More Joyful Christmas. With less than 100 pages it is a pretty fast read and I loved the fact that the cover was made from brown packing paper... it just screams minimalism and voluntary simplicity. The core idea is to pick a modest amount of money like $100 and spend no more than that on the holiday. This allows us to slow down the pace of Christmas, make it more about time with loved ones, and less about rampant … [Read more...]

A Summer of Fun and Other Stuff

By Tiffany 2 Comments

TGIF! Have an awesome weekend everyone! I have sooooo much going on right now I can barely find time to catch a breath. And it will only get worse! Today my daughter participated in a Trike-a-thon for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. She raised over $100 for the cause, which happens to be one of my favorite places to donate too. I absolutely love what they do and what they stand for. This spring/summer will be busy, busy as she is also going to be playing T-ball and practice begins in … [Read more...]
