Going Green Has Personal Benefits Too

By Tiffany 6 Comments

Why do we try to make our lives just a little greener? It is because we care about our planet and the future that our children will face someday. They inherit the problems we have created as a society and the problems we fail to do something about. We are also concerned about the present. Numerous global challenges we now face... air pollution, water pollution, climate crisis, wildlife facing extinction... these things impact us all every day and give us cause for alarm and motivation to do what … [Read more...]

Green Energy 101

By Tiffany 1 Comment

Energy is always a hot discussion in politics. Alternative sources and solutions for our energy needs are often discussed and encouraged but we have been using certain forms of energy for so long that some may be confused about how we can utilize greener energy. Alternative Energy 101

With the massive oil spill that just occurred along the Gulf Coast, energy sources and solutions have been thrust into the limelight. Environmentalists are sharing a little "I told you so" in reference to oil drilling and political right wingers try to downplay the significance of this spill in the hopes that oil drilling will continue unhindered. As one local man said to me recently... "it is shame what happened but I would rather have oil spills if the alternative is that I pay more than $3.00 … [Read more...]

Go Green and Get Sued

By Tiffany 11 Comments

I have seen an alarming trend among the green news stories lately. People who are trying to better our world by going green are getting sued and/or penalized for their efforts. A few days ago I was reading about a North Carolina man who drives a diesel car powered by 100% vegetable oil. His veggie oil bumper sticker caught the attention of local law enforcement and he was fined $1000 for not paying motor fuel taxes. You see about 30 cents of your gasoline dollars go toward fuel taxes and when … [Read more...]
