When Easter rolls around the the eco conundrum that all green families face is what to use to dye or paint the Easter eggs. Actually the bigger dilemma for me is the fact that I buy nasty, factory farmed, bleached white eggs to make the dye job easier but we consider the paint/dye as well. Since my beautiful pastured brown and green eggs won't dye well (we've tried) we buy the conventional white ones for this endeavor and we don't eat them. Some day we may get around to trying to blow the yolks … [Read more...]
The Fruit Guys – Fresh Fruit Delivery
All summer long I opted out of my weekly delivery box of farm fresh veggies and fruit. When it arrived my kids would dive in and exclaim over everything in it. Its just food (and we pay for it) but it really feels like you got a wonderful present. We are lucky that we have this option because there are any who … [Read more...]
Creamy Mushroom Soup with Rice and Sherry
This is one of my absolute favorite soups in the world. I first had it served out of a cauldron at a Halloween Craft Fair and was convinced into recreating that heaven in a bowl at home. This soup is vegetarian and it can be made without rice and it tastes just as … [Read more...]

One of the first steps to having a greener and more eco friendly Easter is too make your own baskets. The ones you can by at the supermarket or Wal-Mart are just a bunch of cheap crap I find. It is not hard to gather little toys and healthy … [Read more...]
All Natural Easter

While there are great natural options on the market for Easter (like Eco Eggs), there are also some ways you can make having a natural Easter a DIY project. Make Your Own Baskets This is what I usually do. Just get a basket (we reuse every year) and take some paper laying around your house that you would usually recycle and run it through a paper shredder. You can also use scissors if you … [Read more...]
