Eco Friendly Friday Tip: Bamboo

By Tiffany 6 Comments

eco friday tipI have been a fan of bamboo ever since I bought a bamboo cloth diaper for the first time about two years ago. It was super soft like velour and quickly became a favorite. After that I got a couple bamboo cutting boards and some dinnerware pieces. That was as far as my exploration of bamboo went until recently. I don’t know why it took me so long to try some other bamboo products but it did.

Corinne at a great company called The Company Store sent me a bamboo towel and a set of luxurious bamboo sheets to try and all I can sat is WOW!!! I am hooked on bamboo.

If you want to know all the reasons why bamboo is a sustainable and earth friendly material read my article Much Ado About Bamboo. But the main reason why I love The Company Store products are because they are so high quality and so soft. The sheets retail for over $100.00 on their site but I would have thought they were valued at more because they are really luxurious and feel like satin but they are much more durable.
If I had satin sheets I would not likely be hanging them out on the line but I can do that with these sheets AND the towel…and they do not get hard and crunchy like everything else. They stay super soft! There is nothing worse than crawling into a bed with crunchy sheets or grabbing a crunchy towel after a shower but that is no issue for bamboo. Since many of my towels are getting pretty ratty I am going to be phasing some of them into cleaning rags and purchasing some bamboo towels. A big plus for the towels and bath items is that bambo is antibacterial and discourages mildew. They also come in a variety of lovely colors….the meadow is gorgeous…as are the bath mats and other items they have at this wonderful earth friendly store.

So what are your experiences with bamboo?
