Proven And Tested Ways To Help Newborns Sleep Better

According to studies, babies are not the best sleepers. They wake every few hours to eat and do many things. That’s why many parents are interested in ways to help their newborns sleep. Indeed, babies are not ready for sleep coaching. Experts advise waiting for the baby to be at least 4 months old or until they have moved their 4 months sleep regression.

However, you don’t have to feel hopeless. Just because your baby is too young for sleep coaching doesn’t mean that you must endure many months of sleeplessness. There are various ways that you can try to naturally encourage your baby to have a better and comfortable sleep. Check out the tips below:

Go For a Walk With your Infant

To let your baby have better sleep, go out for a walk and breathe fresh air. If your baby is now a few weeks old, you can start doing a daily walk. You can also just spend some time sitting outdoors. This natural sleep aid for babies can help a lot in improving the baby’s sleep at night and during afternoon naps.

Give your Baby a Massage

Massage will help your baby relax and promote better sleep. Massage can improve the digestion of the baby. Indeed, this is a great and effective trick, especially for colicky babies. This can also strengthen the mother and child bonding. Finally, a body massage can be great for the baby’s development and growth.

Keep the Nights Dark and the Days Bright

Babies are not born to distinguish that days must be spent on playing and nights must be spent for sleeping. As a matter of fact, babies are born to mix up the activities for day and night. Sometimes, they can sleep during the day and be awake at night.

To correct this issue, make sure that you expose your baby to sunlight during the day. You don’t have to expose your baby on direct sunlight but let him/ her stay in a sunny or bright room.

On the other hand, make the nights dark. Keep your room dim when you change the diaper or feed him/ her. With this, you can help your baby reset his circadian rhythms. You can guide the baby to have long sleep at night and have a nap at the day.

Cluster Feed at Nightime

In the evening, your babies will tank up on feeds. For the rest of the day, they can feed more frequently than they do. According to experts, cluster feeding is a natural phenomenon for babies. Thus, if you wish to promote longer and better nighttime sleep, cluster feeding is a nice strategy to try.

Keep your Baby Close

Keep your baby close to you at nighttime. You can share a room with your baby. With this natural sleep aid for babies, you can try letting your baby sleep near your bed or in a small crib.

Indeed, there are various benefits of letting your baby sleep near you at night. Feeding in the middle of the night can be convenient. Also, studies show that babies who sleep close to their mom can have better sleep. They tend to sleep longer and cry less.
