4 ways to make your skin look great and develop a healthy glow

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

When your skin looks dull and lifeless, it can not only change how you look but how you feel about your overall appearance. From dehydration to a poor diet, various things can lead to your skin not looking its best, but the good news is there are many things you can do to help remedy it. Here are 4 ways to make your skin look great and develop a healthy glow.

You are what you eat

If your diet consists of lots of processed foods, refined sugars, and bad carbohydrates, then, over time, it will impact on how healthy your skin looks. Eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruit will help to transform dull skin and give it a radiant glow.

Due to its high levels of monosaturated acids, avocado is the perfect choice for skin hydration. Accompanied with poached eggs or popped in a salad, this versatile fruit will make a great addition to your diet.

Just like carrots, sweet potatoes are packed with beta carotene and will provide you with lots of Vitamin A. Whether chipped, mashed, or baked, adding this to your weekly meal plan should help you on your way to fresh and healthy skin.

Keep your skin clean and clear

If your skin is going to look remotely decent, it needs to be kept clean, which is even more crucial if you use makeup regularly. It may be tempting to give your face a quick wash each night before bed, but you will reap greater benefits from a proper daily skincare routine.

Start by using a cleanser morning and night to remove impurities, grime, and other dirt. It will help to unclog your pores and keep your skin looking healthy. Follow this up with a toner. It works similarly to a cleanser by removing dirt as well as excess oils from your skin and will balance your skin at the same time. Every morning, apply a good moisturizer (preferably one with a built-in SPF) and, in the evening, treat your skin to a hydrating night cream, which will help to moisturize your skin as you sleep.

If you want to take your skincare routine a step further, there are lots of serums available that can help to delay the signs of aging and give additional moisture to your skin. Using a skin peel or exfoliator a couple of times a week will help to get rid of dead skin cells. If you are looking for a quick boost, Mario Badescu facial spray is a rejuvenating mist that helps revive dehydrated skin, and so is a brilliant addition to any purse.

Stay hydrated

When your skin is dehydrated, it not only looks lifeless, but fine lines and wrinkles can also appear more prominent. That is why it is so important to drink lots of water and make sure your body stays hydrated throughout the day.

It’s recommended that the average adult drink between 2 and 3 liters of water each day, so if you don’t currently drink anywhere near that, it’s time to up your intake. It can be hard to remember, so try to get into the habit of carrying a water bottle around with you wherever you go.

Once you get into a routine, you will start craving water, and it will make it far easier to stick to. Within a week, you should have more visibly radiant skin and a healthy hydrated glow.

Get a good night’s sleep

When we are tired, our skin can look tired too, so that’s why getting a good night’s sleep is so important. The level of sleep we all need differs from person to person, but you should have a rough idea of how much you need based on your energy levels and how rested you feel when you wake up in the morning.

If you struggle to get to sleep, there are a few things you can do to try and fix the problem. Reducing your caffeine levels from mid-afternoon should make a big difference, so if you usually enjoy a coffee after dinner or during the evening, reach for your water bottle instead.

Many people find that having a warm bath right before bed then settling down with a good book is a great way to help them relax and aid a restful night’s sleep. Ditching the iPad, switching off the TV, and try to adopt a calmer approach to bedtime might be the answer.
