The Patagonia brand is no stranger to me. They have a reputation for being a very green and ethical company and their products are a reflection of that. They are also widely known by outdoor enthusiasts since so many of their products are geared towards fitness and outdoor play, whether it be their shoes or their clothing. I have wanted a try a pair of their hiking shoes for a long time and actually had a few of their products bookmarked in my web browser in preparation for purchasing a good pair of winter hiking shoes. My Vibram Five Fingers got me by in style and safety all spring and summer but I am not into the whole primal thing of hiking in the snow wearing minimalist footwear.

Patagonia footwear is also doing something really cool right now that caught my attention. They have teamed up with Healthy Child, Healthy World and are donating $10 for every pair of shoes sold until October 14. This is a great pairing because both companies care about chemical safety for our planet and for families. Healthy Child Healthy World obviously advocates for corporate policies and government legislation that protect children from environmental health risks. They also seek to increase consumer awareness so we can vote with our dollars and attack this issue from that angle as well. Patagonia is known for their eco awareness and their efforts to reduce harmful chemicals from the manufacturing and dying processes of their lines. They too are advocates for a healthier planet.

Their footwear can be purchased through shoe retailer OnlineShoes. They have free shipping and free returns which is important to me because I have lots of issues getting shoes to fit (wide feet and really high arches). For this promotion, OnlineShoes was kind enough to send me a pair of the Patagonia Hiking Boots. I got the Patagonia Drifter A/C Gore-Tex® in Canteen and Dark Celadron colors. Its a waterproof trail shoe which will be important for hiking in the snowy Ohio weather and it has a 20% recycled footbed. It is manufactured by ISO 14001 Approved Suppliers, which means that materials are sourced from companies that follow a strict set of environmental standards. It can be resoled if need be and the Vibram® Trail Ecostep outsole is made of 30% recycled rubber.

They fit like a dream and they are very comfy so far. I haven’t done any serious hiking in them yet but I am all set for our local winter hiking series now. Last year I hiked in regular tennis shoes and slippage was a problem so I can’t wait to break these babies in on the trail. I plan to pair these with a comfy pair of wool socks (see my Eco Friendly Hiking Gear for Women post for my top choice). My tootsies are gonna stay warm and dry.

    I love the Patagonia Attee Tie weatherproof boots! We live in Colorado and love to go on walks with the kids and shoveling the driveway would be much more enticing wearing these :)

    I would choose between the Bandha Sandals, Advocate shoe or the Bly Hemp…just not sure!

    I’m totally digging the Addie Rider boots in Chimney. They’re functional and super stylish. They’d also be the perfect boot to transition from fall into winter.

    Oh, the Drifter A/C is must.  I’ve never liked the constriction of a high top hiking boot and this trail shoe looks good enough to wear everyday.  It would come in so handy for the hikes we take around Central Texas.  I especially like the Canteen/Dark Celadron.

      I forgot the “Why” part – I’d love to have a good pair of hiking shoes as I”m desperately still trying to lose the 40 “baby pounds” even though the “baby” is three years old :)  Hiking would be so much lovelier if I had a nice pair of shoes to inspire me.  Thanks!!

    I am a huge fan of patagonia products and am drawn to the
    Bandha T-Strap Sandal although I would like a pair of flats as well…..

    I love the Tsali in Rhubarb (what a nice red!). I need some new walking shoes, but it’s a toss-up between that one and the Attlee Tie boot in Forge Grey. They’re both waterproof—I live in Seattle. Enough said!

    I really love the Patagonia Fiona Quilted Mid high boot in plum. I live in Washington where it is raining the majority of time so I need something in the fall and winter that keep my feet dry besides just rain boots! I also work where there is some hard to walk on gravel and these boots look like they would keep good traction, plus the plum color is so cute!

    Thanks for the post about Patagonia. I’m a native of
    Colorado, and Patagonia is very popular here, we love their philosophy and
    products! I also worked in Antarctica where the brand was highly used as well.
    Right now I would chose the Lugano Lace High Waterproof Forge Grey boots
    because my baby is 14 months and I’m still carrying her on my back when I walk
    and hike. These boots would be perfect for the winter months while trekking
    with my girl and two Weimaraners!

    I think I would choose the Maha shoe. It looks comfy and yet you could wear it with a lot of different outfits. I really need that combo being a mom. As much as I love getting out in the woods, I need something for everyday wear and those look great. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

    I would select the Patagonia Fiona Quilted High Black. We live in the East Coast and with winter comes snow; a lot of snow. These boots are tall and waterproof and CUTE!!  Keeping my fingers crossed!

    I keep eying the boots and reminding myself I have a decent pair of waterproof boots. Still love the Fiona Quilted High Deep Plum, but I suspect the P26 Mid A/C Gore-Tex® Forge Grey/Storm would be more practical.

    I’d choose the Bly Hemp Cattail for sure! What a great looking shoe that has both functionality for the outdoors and looks good for casual fashion as well. I always love a shoe that can serve more than one purpose.

    Ooh, I love them all!  I’m not sure which I’d pick (one of the walking shoes, I think) but I have to admit to being partial to the Fiona shoes and boots since I just gave birth to my baby Fiona 6 days ago.  :)

    I would like the Patagonia Drifter A/C Gore-Tex®.  A recent transplant to Ohio from Florida, I all of a sudden find myself in need of something other than a flip-flop!  Oh, no!!!!  These would be great to keep my feet toasty and dry on winter hikes in the metro parks!

    it’s so hard to decide! maybe a pair of waterproof boots like the Lugano Lace. i need some boots that will withstand walking and playing outside, but keep my toes warm and dry!
