Buying in Bulk is Green

By Tiffany 3 Comments

One of the biggest environmental problems we face is packaging waste. For most of the public every shopping trip they take results in lots and lots of packaging...cereal boxes, cans or bags of nuts, bags of rice and beans, plastic milk jugs, etc. There are quite a few steps we can take to reduce our contribution to the packaging waste stream and one huge one is to simply eat real, local foods and not the processed foods that are more typically found in boxes and plastic bags. Yet there … [Read more...]

The LunchBots Trio

By Tiffany 5 Comments

I have been a LunchBots fan for quite awhile. I have the LunchBots Duo and have used it for years now. I use it to store kiddie snacks on the road, I use it for school lunches, and I use it for my own snacks and lunch on occasion. It was this particular lunchbox that I took with me to a seminar I attended recently in fact. So color me overjoyed to try one of their new lunchboxes. I have eyed the Trio and the Quad with much desire. The folks at LunchBots kindly sent me the Trio and I have used … [Read more...]

Well, I do happen to agree for the most part with Real Simple magazine's list of 30 healthiest foods... not that they are the healthiest per say but it is a pretty good list of healthy foods. I thought it would be fun to go through their list and see how regularly my … [Read more...]

How to Make Homemade Almond Milk

By Tiffany 31 Comments

This morning I made some raw almond milk. It is still a living food, it's vegan, and is very good for you. My two boys love to drink it straight up...my daughter would rather have raw cows milk I think. But none of them mind when I use it in cereals or in homemade raw ice cream. We also use it to make chocolate milk and banana milk which they all love. It is great as a base for milky matcha tea drink too. Yum! It is super easy to make. Other than the 8-12 hours I soak the almonds first it only … [Read more...]
