The Benefits of Grass Fed and Pastured Animal Products

By Tiffany 6 Comments

There is an old saying that “you are what you eat”. We hear it often and maybe it has begin to become a bit watered down (by overuse) but really it is quite a truthful statement. Nutritionists like to repeat this quote over and over again to get across to people that food choices are directly linked to our health and to our quality of life. The food that we eat and all of the nutrients contained therein are what provide the building blocks for new cell growth. Cells die off daily and are … [Read more...]

Sweet Potato Pancakes with Goat Cheese and Coconut

By Tiffany 3 Comments

We had primal meatloaf and mashed sweet potatoes last night. I made a bit more sweet potatoes then I knew we would need because I was already thinking about lunch for the following day. This recipe makes abut 10 medium size pancakes and is perfect for feeding two (usually me and my husband) but we easily double and triple this recipe for when the kids are home. It is quick and easy to make and oh so delicious and decadent... Sweet Potato Pancakes with Goat Cheese and Coconut 1/2 Cup coconut … [Read more...]

Nourishing Egg Drop Soup Recipe

By Tiffany 4 Comments

After coming back from my mini vacation in NYC I have been feeling like I am coming down with a cold. It is probably equal parts exposure to germs and letting my diet go off the paleo wagon while traveling. I was in New York though, I had to have bagels and pastries!!! It's practically the law. Anyway I made chicken soup the other night and wanted something else equally nourishing today but didn't have time for chicken soup. In the end some of my farmer's market goodies helped me decide. … [Read more...]

Nourishing Mushroom Leek Frittata Recipe

By Tiffany 3 Comments

I make this meal quite often for breakfast or as an after CrossFit "power" meal. This serves one and it is sooooo delicious! I also like that it gives me the opportunity to use leeks because they are a favorite of mine and since potatoes (their favorite playmate) and I are not on such good terms these days, I don't cook with leeks so much anymore. I also love mushrooms and usually go for baby bellas with this recipe but went with plain white buttons on this day. Often times I will chop enough of … [Read more...]

Grain Free Coconut Pancakes

By Tiffany 10 Comments

One of the things I thought I would have do without after deciding to go grain free was pancakes. Honestly I was not that sad though since I am not a big pancake eater. Of course that was before I tried these coconut pancakes. Now we have a nice treat for Saturday or Sunday mornings when all of us are together and oh my goodness they are divine! Yum! I don't want to list the exact recipe since we got it from The Primal Blueprint Cookbook but it would be a very wise time investment to pick it … [Read more...]
