Scents That Make Better Sense

By Tiffany 8 Comments

I used to be a big time perfume lover. All throughout my teens and early adult years I wore Elizabeth Arden's Red Door perfume. Just ask my husband, he is still sulking that I no longer wear what he considers my signature scent. Eventually I stopped wearing it because who has time for perfume when you have to change messy diapers and supply breast milk on tap 24/7? Then after a few years I decided I didn't WANT to wear it because conventional perfume is some seriously toxic and nasty stuff and I … [Read more...]

Sun Smarts Are Better Than Sunscreen

By Tiffany 10 Comments

According to a report by The Environmental Working Group, only 8% of the beach and sport sunscreens (39 out of 500) offer sufficient protection AND ingredients  safe enough to earn their "green" rating. In my safer sunscreens post I have highlighted some of the ones that received top honors on their list. It is becoming clearer to more and more people that the sunscreen industry is actually less about protecting our skin and more about marketing. How else can they continue to peddle the … [Read more...]

How to Avoid the Poison in Your Pantry

By Tiffany 16 Comments

Steps You Can Take to Make Eating Canned Food Healthier and Safer... Until recently, when I started eating less raw and cooking more in an attempt to win over my husband and ease us all into a more meatless existence I hadn't used canned food in quite some time. I understood that there were issues with canned foods but since I didn't eat them I didn't blog about it. But now I seem to be on a Mexican, South American, and Caribbean cooking kick which uses a lot of beans and I have resorted to … [Read more...]

Ask NatureMom – Infant Formula & Toxic Cloth Diapers?

By Tiffany 31 Comments

This is a new feature I have added to organize reader questions. Some days I spend quite a bit of time writing out answers to questions that readers send only to have someone ask the same question 2-3 months later and I can't find what I previously wrote. Well, it was about time I smarten up here...I will be answering them on the blog so I can just send a link...easy peasy. Q: I think you may be past the point of needing infant formula, but do you have any strong feelings towards any of … [Read more...]

Tru Kid Organic Hair Care for Kids

By Tiffany 11 Comments

Okay I really think I am in love with the TruKid line of natural organic products for kiddos. Yes, I have almost tried every product in their line-up now and it is indeed love at first use. I first mentioned TruKid products in reference to their amazing safe sunscreen for kids called Sunny Days. It is was/is one of my top picks and now the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has given it the thumbs up, making it #2 on their list of safe sunscreens. It is free of chemical nasties, paraben free, … [Read more...]
