Healthy Home Makeover $500 Giveaway

By Tiffany 6 Comments

I always like to say that to go green or to make your house a healthier place to be you don't need to break the bank. You do usually do need to spend a little though to makeover your home. Mainstream products are made as cheaply as possible and with little regard to the safety of the consumer. Products that are made to last and that are safer usually have a higher price tag attached. That quality costs a bit more unfortunately but it is well worth our time to consider. We can of course … [Read more...]

Another Reason to Love My Bazura Bags

By Tiffany Leave a Comment

Last year I got some Bazura Bags to use for packed lunches. We like them quite a bit for that use, the kids especially. A lunch bag made of recycled juice bags just has a cool factor I guess. I like them for quickie lunches on the go because they have carrying handles and it looks like a purse. Well, I am finding another wonderful use for them that makes them a bit superior to our other lunch bags/boxes... we can use them for food storage when not in use. The medium size Bazura has become my … [Read more...]

5 Easy Steps to Reduce Plastic in Our Lives

By Tiffany 21 Comments

There are two really easy, really affordable products you can use instead of plastic so there is very little excuse to keep bringing plastic baggies home. Reusable Grocery Bags – Cloth bags can be bought at most grocery stores for $1 nowadays and you can usually find good quality bags for $10 each that will last for years and years AND … [Read more...]

Green Food Storage – Reader Questions

By Tiffany 5 Comments

I am getting lots of great questions lately submitted via email. I usually just hit the reply button and give a quickie response but I will try harder to address questions on the blog just in case other people are wondering. Janelle, who asked about what I use to store food in besides plastic last week, emailed again to know what I use in my freezer instead of plastic containers or plastic baggies. She was primarily concerned about storing leftovers in the freezer. That is a great question … [Read more...]

Store Food in Glass – Eco Tip

By Tiffany 13 Comments

A reader emailed me a question recently about how to get rid of plastic containers for food storage. I was happy to share with her what I use in my home. I hate using plastic to store food in because it can leach chemicals into the food and the production and disposal of plastic causes a lot of environmental problems. Plastic just doesn't last either. So in my home I use a lot of glass. For leftovers and food storage in the fridge I use pyrex containers. There are a lot of sleek modern pyrex … [Read more...]
