Ditching Tampons for the Softcup

By Tiffany 8 Comments

This post brought to you by Softcup. All opinions are 100% mine. When it comes to our periods women have other options, beyond the traditional tampon or sanitary pad, though you would not think so by looking at most store shelves. Tampons and pads reign supreme and yet both have so many issues, healthwise and environmental, that it makes sense to look at the other options. Pads are sumpremely uncomfortable (like wearing a diaper), they leak, and they end up in landfills in mass quantities. … [Read more...]

Recycling Bins You Won’t Want to Hide in the Garage

By Tiffany 9 Comments

Have you noticed how completely ugly most recycling bins are? I am sure you have. If you use the bins provided by your city or local waste collection service then you probably have the standard plastic tubs in red, green, or blue. They are fine for putting out at the curb once a week but it gets annoying to have to look at them in your kitchen every day. Not only do they waste a lot of space, they look unsightly. So what to do? I know! Hide those dastardly bins in the garage or set them out … [Read more...]

Green Goals for 2013

By Tiffany 4 Comments

My personal resolutions or goals for 2013 have been made. Now it is time to make a few goals specific to a greener lifestyle and environment so that I can 'up my game' in that department even more. It's all part of being a socially responsible member of my community. I am excited to work on a few things that are lacking and also delve into new territory. Goal #1 - Grow More Food!! Last year was the first year we grew absolutely nothing and I feel rather disappointed in myself. We have a … [Read more...]

Natural Sleep Aids That Aren’t So Natural

By Tiffany 8 Comments

Don't you just love the photo above? I imagine this is what me, my husband, and my six year old look like each night. Well, except I would never, ever have white sheets on our bed, and the six year old is likely to be laying sideways kicking one of us in he face. It is nice to imagine we look that peaceful though. ;) I have actually suffered from insomnia for a few years now and it has gotten better after I started exercising 4-5 days a week (about a year ago) and went paleo (about 4 months … [Read more...]

Ways to Channel Our ‘Inner Lorax’ at Home

By Tiffany 1 Comment

So have you seen The Lorax yet? If so, then you know that it is fodder for lots of conversations within your family about environmentalism and how to put into practice Lessons With The Lorax. The movie is phenomenal and fun but the subject matter is serious and there is no time like the present to work together as a family to do your part and speak for the trees, and the air, and the waterways, and all things Mother Earth. The Lorax movie just brings us a fun way to launch into it with renewed … [Read more...]
