When I posted about going grain free this week and also eschewing some other foods, I got many comments and emails asking what in the Sam Hill I WOULD be eating. I understand the confusion. As a nourished vegetarian most of my protein came from eggs, dairy, grains, legumes, beans, lentils, nuts and nut butters, greens, and protein supplements. This year I have decided to go grain free and pseudo grain free. This means everything from whole wheat and oats, to rice and Quinoa, is on the chopping … [Read more...]
Grain Free Coconut Pancakes
One of the things I thought I would have do without after deciding to go grain free was pancakes. Honestly I was not that sad though since I am not a big pancake eater. Get Rid of Wheat Belly and Bagel Butt – Go Grain Free
I recently spent a few days at my parents' house a couple counties away. I always bring a few books with me and enjoy the unplugged time and this particular visit was no exception. There is also quite a following of parents who believe that grains and specifically gluten, is like poison to a child with autism or other sensitivities. You hear more and more about families going … [Read more...]
Crazy Sexy Diet Book Review
I just finished up an awesome new book last night. Crazy Sexy Diet: Eat Your Veggies, Ignite Your Spark, and Live Like You Mean It! by Kris Carr. I was looking forward to this book for a long time because Kris Carr and her ideas have a lot of personal significance to me. Kris's first book, Crazy Sexy Cancer, was the first one I read after my cancer diagnosis and it was amazing to read about her journey with cancer just as I was beginning my own. Kris was diagnosed with a rare and deadly cancer … [Read more...]
