Paleo For the Planet – Why Carnivores Can Have a Positive Impact

By Tiffany 2 Comments

A few months back I wrote a post about going paleofor health. I mostly wrote it as a visceral response to a blog post I read that tried to debunk the paleo diet as unhealthy and elitist. I think I did a pretty good job trouncing all of the reasons they claimed the paleo diet was so gosh darn awful. One of their "issues" with paleo though went unanswered by me though. I thought I would write a follow up post within a few days but just never got around it. The article, from way back when, claimed … [Read more...]

Greener Mother’s Day Gifts

By Tiffany 6 Comments

Mother's Day has become yet another commercial holiday were you are encouraged to buy people "stuff" they don't need. Of course I am not going to to complain about ANY day where moms get some extra props and receive gifts from a loved one. I just think we need to think a little about the woman on the other end of the gift a bit more. A green mom especially might be more sensitive to all the unnecessary waste associated with these holidays. Flowers won't last and they may have been doused in … [Read more...]

GLOB Natural Paints

By Tiffany 3 Comments

Painting outside on the porch is what my kiddos spent most of this gorgeous day doing. I made some paper dolls for my daughter using some Trader Joe's bags I have had laying around for a couple months. After cutting them out I set all the kids up with some natural paints from GLOB. My youngest boy just painted on paper and my oldest painted a cardboard house. The paints use plant materials for their color... pomegranate, blueberry, tangerine, basil, plum, and lemon verbena. They even have … [Read more...]

A Green Gift Tradition – Season Passes

By Tiffany 12 Comments

A reader was recently asking me about low impact gifts and what I would recommend for kids for Christmas. Well I certainly have my list of green gifts and all that jazz but probably my favorite gift idea is to get season passes for your local zoo. We have done this for years and it is a gift that gives throughout the entire year, not just for the month or two after Christmas... until their new toys lose their luster. It is a tradition of sorts in this house. My kids have been very fortunate … [Read more...]
