A Minimalist Approach to Toy Clutter

By Tiffany 22 Comments

How many times have you been frustrated with your child for allowing their toys to be strewn all over the household? How many times have you found your child’s toys in your way when you were in a hurry or trying to accomplish some household task? How many times this month have you had to argue with a child about the disaster area that is their bedroom? Toy clutter is a big problem in the typical American household. We live in a society of excess and amassing huge quantities of toys is just … [Read more...]

Being Grateful for My Good Life Every Day

By Tiffany 5 Comments

This post brought to you by Allstate. All opinions are 100% mine. I am not generally an optimistic person. I don't see the glass as half full without a little effort. I worry a lot. I stress a lot. My stomach being tied in knot is almost a daily occurance. It doesn't have to be over anything big either. It could be the fact that I have to float a bill (I hate that) or that I got stuck in traffic and my kids have to survive ten minutes at home without me after school. I take little stresses … [Read more...]

It’s National Clean Out Your Purse Day!

By Tiffany 3 Comments

Did you know that there was a National Clean Out Your Purse Day? Neither did I, until I saw a few tweets about it this morning. Ever the joiner I decided to get busy with the purse cleaning outing. It probably would have been far more useful to me if it were national scrub your kitchen floor day since mine is currently sticky as all get out but I guess perhaps I need to drum up the motivation for that one on my own today. Anyway my purse is actually in pretty decent condition. Its part of … [Read more...]

Mother’s Day My Way – Buy Me a Groupon!

By Tiffany 2 Comments

When it comes to gifts I am all about the experience rather than "the stuff". In fact, unless it is vintage Pyrex or Le Creuset I think I would rather not have to find a place for new trinkets, gadgets, or other products. I try to live with simplicity and minimalism in mind. I am constantly decluttering and pairing down. Accepting gifts that I don't absolutely need makes me a bit anxious. It makes me that way because I am worried about where I will keep it (whatever it is) that is out of the way … [Read more...]

Why We Have Chosen Public School

By Tiffany 45 Comments

More and more frequently I get comments on this blog or on Facebook about how I should be homeschooling. Many are well meaning. They think homeschool rocks and they want me to experience this bliss myself. A handful are a tad condescending. I do understand that many parents concerned with self sufficiency, natural learning and living, homesteading, minimalism, etc do opt to homeschool. I do not. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. I do not want to spend every waking moment with my kids. … [Read more...]
