Natural & DIY Dryer Sheet Alternatives

By Tiffany 5 Comments

Dryer sheets have become one of those mass marketed products that we have become convinced we need. We need them to make our laundry smell fresh or we need them to keep static cling at bay. We need them to make our clothes soft and wrinkle free. Or do we? I used to be a die hard dryer sheet user. I was absolutely convinced once upon a time that any good housekeeper and laundry aficionado MUST use dryer sheets. Then of course I learned the hard truth. Dryer sheets are rather toxic with some … [Read more...]

Healthier Pots and Pans in the Kitchen

By Tiffany 19 Comments

Most natural mamas are concerned with cooking or creating the healthiest meals possible. We may have our own ideas of what constitutes the optimal diet.. macrobiotic, vegan, vegetarian, raw, nourishing traditions, primal... but most of us all have a basic start place in creating our meals and that place is usually with good quality pots and pans. Okay maybe not so much if you are 100% raw. ;) There is much more to consider when buying pots and pans beside how well they heat food, how easy … [Read more...]

Natural Solutions for Acne

By Tiffany 18 Comments

It is a sad reality that for many adults acne is not something that went away along with those awkward teen years. It can plague skin for years after puberty and those hormonal years. Many adults find that acne returns when the hormones do, as with pregnancy. Others find that it may be less dramatic than when they were younger but it never went completely away. This condition can make you feel awful and can put a real dent in yourself esteem and social life. This is made even worse when you’re … [Read more...]

Sinupret Syrup

By Tiffany 103 Comments

I am sure you have heard the buzz recently about over the counter medicines for kids. I have avoided them like the plague for several years but it seems more and more doctors, drug companies, and family groups are getting hip to this danger and they are urging the FDA to ban over the counter medicines for kids 4-6 and under...some groups want it to be 12 and under. My personal opinion is that these medications are just chemical cocktails that suppress symptoms or mask them. They have no healing … [Read more...]

Shampoo Bars – A Green Option

By Tiffany 25 Comments

As I mentioned yesterday I am a big fan of shampoo bars. They are usually all I use in fact because they have a big green benefit...no waste. There is no plastic shampoo bottle to throw away and that could be quite a bit of plastic over time not entering the waste stream. I have used many different shampoo bars and my favorites are the ones that come wrapped in fabric or a simple strip of paper...then the fabric/paper can be reused in crafts or composted. Shampoo bars also last me a long time … [Read more...]
