Earthing Shoes – Get Touchy Feely with Mother Earth

By Tiffany 5 Comments

Late last year I wrote about Earthing - what it is and why it is so important so learn about and implement in our daily lives. The post is rather long winded but essentially it is about reconnecting to the earth...physically. It makes the case that we are actually meant to be in close contact with the earth and that our health suffers when we don't have that contact. We all know that kids who do not have the close contact and "touch" of their parents suffer physically and mentally. It is well … [Read more...]

My Week With the Kia Optima Hybrid

By Tiffany 2 Comments

Last week I had the pleasure of cruising around Columbus in a Kia Optima Hybrid. It is a bit pricier than most of the other cars I have gotten to test drive of late and it was my first hybrid. My previous experience has mostly been with regular vehicles that have great fuel economy or all electric cars. I was really jazzed to get a behind the wheel of a hybrid. It took a little while to get used to because it is a very different drive. The Optima gets an A+ for looks that for sure. It is very … [Read more...]

Money Secrets of the Amish

By Tiffany 11 Comments

At the library recently I picked up Money Secrets of the Amish: Finding True Abundance in Simplicity, Sharing, and Saving. It sounded like a perfect fit for me. I am fascinated by the Amish, who live very near to me, and I am a big fan of simple living. I have also recently delved into the world of scrimping and saving, something totally new to me actually. We have lived comfortably for years and without a budget of any kind, but we have also lived pretty much paycheck to paycheck. We have been … [Read more...]

Haba Board Games

By Tiffany 4 Comments

The kids and I spent lots of time playing together over the weekend. After all, it is almost time to get back to the business of school. So, we kicked off the weekend by playing two new games. Monopoly and Battleship are okay I guess but my two smallest kiddos like to play something unique and usually something that involves animals. I like games that involve strategy and aren't too commercial in nature. Both of these games were a perfect fit for us. The first we played was Tier auf Tier. … [Read more...]

Flower Pots Made From Recycled Tires

By Tiffany 4 Comments

We have had so much rain here in Ohio that it has made getting into the gardening spirit a bit hard. To make up for it I have been buying up indoor plants like crazy. I think my husband is worried we will be living in a jungle soon. But I did add the first patch of color outside this weekend because I had a nifty new planter to put to work for us. I am not a fan of plastic and I have yet to get out and scope the auction scene to buy some clay pots so this pot was just what I needed. It is a … [Read more...]
