Girl Hunter Book Review

By Tiffany 6 Comments

I decided to request this book from the library last week after I saw it pop up a few times on Facebook. I was intrigued by the cover and I think I wanted to challenge myself and my ideas about hunting with another's women's perspective. The fact that this particular woman looked like a Manhattan socialite, and indeed she once was, also piqued my curiosity. But I think my motive was mostly to try and come to grips with my own fear and hatred of hunting. I resumed eating meat again late last year … [Read more...]

Introducing City Kids to Mother Nature

By Tiffany 7 Comments

Exposing our kids to nature and outdoor play is pretty easy if you live in a rural area. My first kiddo was raised for five years mountainside in Arizona with hundreds of acres of state land all around us. By Tiffany 4 Comments

I have not really written on this subject much because I don't have pets anymore. I had dogs for most of my life and loved it but after I had children and my dogs got older and eventually died I owned up to the fact that I was not a great pet owner anymore. Whereas I used to refer to my dogs as my babies, I eventually became too concerned with dog hair everywhere, chewing of the kids stuff, and the general work involved in caring for a pet. Couple that with the fact that when we lived in Arizona … [Read more...]

Camping Fun With Kids

By Tiffany 7 Comments

Camping with kids may sound like a stressful idea, but it doesn’t have to be. Some input from everyone will help the trip run a little smoother right from the beginning. The best thing about camping with kids is that you don’t need special skills, just some life lessons. Some of my all time favorite childhood memories revolved around camping. I used to pretend I was an explorer and I called myself Tiffiana Jones, LOL. I would hike, look for animal bones, catch craw fish (and let them go), and … [Read more...]
