The Chico Bag

Chico BagsGreat product alert!! I am behind the times on this one I think but now it is my turn to sing the praises of the Chico Bag.

I do use reusable bags when I go shopping. Heck, I don’t want to be one of those average Americans that uses 700 plastic bags a year. In fact I am something of a freakish curiosity here in my small town thanks to that green living habit but I have always used canvas totes bags. Some I ordered wholesale but mostly I used various bags I have collected over the years. This week I got a shipment of Chico Bags, the reusable bag that fits in a pocket or purse. They come in a variety of cool colors. I prefer the lime myself. They are pretty stylish.

They are made of strong and durable woven nylon and they hold up to 20 pounds each. The absolute best thing about these bags is that they compact into a small little pouch (attached) making them easy to put in your purse, pocket, belt loop, glove compartment, or keychain. I love this feature because I have been caught more than few times without my bags when I had to make an unexpected trip to the store or I was traveling or carpooling. With these Chico bags I can minimally have at least one bag with me at all times. I have put one in my purse and one on my keychain using the attached carabineer.

When they get dirty you just machine wash and hang to dry and the drying time is lightning fast.

The only thing more stylish than the sleek and colorful bag design is the price. I ordered about 20 of them in various colors so I think I am set. Happy Shopping!

hi i noticed this product being sold in lots of places and i am wondering what happened ?nylon requires high energy of non renewable fuels to produce, and involves the precursors benzene(a known human carcinogen) and hydrogen cyanide (which is extremely poisonous. The manufacturing of nylon also releases volatile organic compounds(VOCs), nitrogen oxides and ammonia ,some where in china their pouring this stuff on the earth? Not to mention the amount of greenhouse gasses just to get it to market, the strip mining for the aluminum and iron{ for the springs in carabener and slip clasp)the coal that had to be burned ,the acid rain that has yet to fall?if you care about the earth this product shouldn’t be on the shelf. If your thing is, oh they save on plastic bags ,not only are Chico bags to small for us who really shop with our own bags,it cannot be recycled?heh yet all the bags in stores are a #2 plastic that can be re melted into tons of new products.funny the ink on the bag itself could be lead or better yet the inks made by some 12year olds in Mexico’s NAFTA then sent to china by ship spewing tons of diesel into air, OK that’s a little crazy yet there is sad truth in my words please think about this.thanx Whipple

whipple—I just did a search on chico bags and the harmful effects of nylon manufacture and your comment is the first thing I encountered. Thanks for saying it! I really do love the convenience of the Chico Bag but they could have found a much greener solution for the material. Thanks for pointing it out. I impulsively bought a Chico Bag at a local market here recently, and then realized it was nylon. I feel kind of uncomfortable that these are getting so much positive attention, but at least it’s making the reusable bag movement slightly more accessible to the masses.

  3. I have been asking for paper when I check out. I always seem to forget to bring my mesh bags.
