It’s meal plan Monday! I plan my meals out every Saturday (my grocery shopping day) but I use a Monday-Sunday calendar. It just gives the week an organized feeling and if I don’t plan things then I end up going to the store with no plan and I buy what I “think” we may need. 100% of the time this results in me spending too much and at least a few nights I am wondering what in the world I am going to make for dinner. This of course can lead to eating out or additional trips to the grocery store to get missing ingredients. Why put myself through that during an already hectic week?
So…meal plan it is. I find it works best when you pick a certain day and stick to it. Take and inventory of what you have by going through the pantry, fridge, and deep freeze. Then go through some cookbooks, recipes you’ve bookmarked on the Internet or saved in Facebook. It is also handy to have a running list of tried and true favorite recipes.
Here is my meal plan for the week:
Monday: French onion noodle soup with homemade noodles
Tuesday: Barbeque ribs, baked beans, and cabbage
Wednesday: Hashbrown casserole and sausage links
Thursday: French onion chicken
Friday: Ham and cheese rolls with mustard sauce
Saturday: Beef stew
Sunday: Beef Stroganoff with homemade noodles
What are you making this week?
