Activities For Teens This Summer

Summer is in full swing and it is time to get out there and being having fun. The pools are going to be open and the campgrounds will be full. As a parent, you’ll definitely want to take some time off of work to spend with your children. And you also want your teens to have fun when you are not there to supervise right? You can help them choose fun activities to keep them occupied that are also safe. Within this guide, you will discover fun and safe activities for your teens and tweens this summer.

Geocaching

The word geocaching is a combination of two words – “geo,” meaning earth and “cache,” which means hidden in French. So, a geocache is something that is hidden somewhere on the earth. To find these hidden treasures, you will need to have a sense of adventure, strong legs and the willingness to search for them. What better way to keep teens occupied?? Encourage them to download a geocaching app and go over best practices for being safe while exploring. Go with them or set them loose with friends. Make sure they take a backpack with a spare battery or charger for their phone, bug spray, hand wipes, binoculars, a first aid kit, rain gear, and snacks. To make it even more rewarding give them a fitbit and reward them for their “miles” and perhaps for every social media share of their found treasures.

Hiking

If you want to bond with your child, you’ll definitely want to take them hiking this summer. Hiking will allow you to connect with your child, while also getting your child outside in the open. Mother Nature is wonderful and you need to expose your children to it as much as possible. Just remember that hiking can be a little dangerous. Be cautious of wildlife and snakes. Do that and you’ll love your hike with your precious teen!

Social Media

During the summer, your child is going to be traveling a lot. They’ll definitely want to use social media to share their adventure with their friends. This isn’t a big deal. However, you need to make sure that they’re using social media properly. You can use a parental control app to ensure that your child is not using the Internet inappropriately. Do that and they’ll be able to show their friends exactly what they’ve been doing this summer.

Baseball

As you should already know, baseball is America’s favorite pastime. It has been around almost as long as the country. With that being said, if your teen has never played baseball you should definitely teach them how to play this summer, and if you don’t have any gear you can get gloves and BBCOR baseball bats here. The sport isn’t too physical, so it is great for pretty much everyone. Still, there are a few risks involved. With that being said, you should make sure that your child is wearing the appropriate safety gear. When batting, your child needs to wear a helmet!

Camping

Finally, you’ll want to think about taking your child camping this summer. Camping is one of the best activities for children. It’ll get them outside and allow them to mingle with people their own age. There are some risks involved, but they’re few and far in between. Just make sure that you choose a safe campground and always keep and eye on your children! Take precautions and everyone in your traveling group will absolutely love their camping trip.
