The bundle of the week is a subject near and dear to me...paleo foods! Paleo forever changed the way I eat and view a healthy diet because paleo fixed so many nagging health issues for me, many of which I didn't even realize were a problem until they were gone. For instance, bloating. I never realized how much bloat I was carrying around while on a diet that incorporated grains and I never realized how amazingly energetic I wasn't feeling. Paleo and primal foods have been a game changer for me … [Read more...]
Balancing pH with the Right Foods & Alkaline Water
As I have mentioned before my “healthy diet” ideals are varied and spread out among numerous ideologies and theories. I cherry pick the things that appeal to me and work for me and I drop the things that don't work so well. For instance I started out liking the WAPF way of eating but kind of moved away from it as I narrowed in on a grain free, dairy free diet. Yet I still love the bone broth, probiotics, and organ meats they promote so heavily. I like the variety of veggies and plant based foods … [Read more...]
Keeping Teeth Healthy and Free of Decay with Real Food
Naturally healthy teeth and gums have been on my radar of late. One of the "issues" I wanted to help fix when I decided to go paleo several months back was my own dental health. When I went vegetarian a few years back though my gums and teeth … [Read more...]

I recently spent a few days at my parents' house a couple counties away. I always bring a few books with me and enjoy the unplugged time and this particular visit was no exception. Almost as soon as I walked in the door I plopped down on a recliner and pulled out a book I was excited to read, Wheat Belly by William Davis, MD. It was the second book I read in a week that dealt with the issue of eschewing grains from the diet (more on the other book later). For the new year I decided to make … [Read more...]
Natural Sunburn Remedies
In the past few weeks I have already gone over some of the things we can do to avoid getting a sunburn such as covering up or using a safe sunscreen. In addition to those things we also need to be spending some time in the sun unprotected each day... about 10-20 minutes, so that our bodies can absorb Vitamin D. This will help protect us from burning when we spend more time in the sun. A healthy diet will also help prevent burns. Our diet should be rich in healthy fats and foods with Vitamin C, … [Read more...]
