Ditching Tampons for the Softcup

By Tiffany 8 Comments

This post brought to you by Softcup. All opinions are 100% mine. When it comes to our periods women have other options, beyond the traditional tampon or sanitary pad, though you would not think so by looking at most store shelves. Tampons and pads reign supreme and yet both have so many issues, healthwise and environmental, that it makes sense to look at the other options. Pads are sumpremely uncomfortable (like wearing a diaper), they leak, and they end up in landfills in mass quantities. … [Read more...]

Steps You Can Take to Kick the Plastics Habit

Plastics. I can hardly say the word without making the "yuck" face. Don't get me wrong I understand that plastics have done some wondrous things for us, especially in medicine and in medical devices. But plastics are EVERYWHERE these days. Corporate America is telling me I need to drink out of plastic, eat off of plastic, wrap my food in plastic, carry my stuff in plastic bags, store my kids toys in plastic, and buy up single use plastics as much as possible to make my like easier. What they … [Read more...]

15 Products You Didn’t Know You Could Buy Reusable

By Tiffany 24 Comments

We live in a society that has come to appreciate convenient and disposable a bit too much. Why clean it when you can just throw it away right? What could be more convenient than to use a brand, spanking new product each time you need one and then throw it away and make it someone else's problem when you are done. There are many of us though that realize that it is just lazy and selfish to to get hooked on one use disposables. Not only are we throwing our money away on what is essentially … [Read more...]

Freeganism and Eating Your Way To A Healthier Environment

By Tiffany 5 Comments

Americans throw away millions of dollars worth of food every year. This food ends up in dumpsters and garbage bins and eventually in landfills where it impacts the environment. It also impacts the environment when we have to keep growing more food than we actually need. Just think about all the energy used to grow crops and the taxation of the soil. Throwing food away is highly wasteful and hurtful to our planet. There is a movement out there that wants to change all that, and the movement is … [Read more...]

Bazura Lunch Bags

I have been a gig fan of Bazura bags for a long time and just look at them... they are so darn clever! There is nothing inherently cute about juice bags and plastic waste but when recycled into these adorable bags I think it just works. It become stylish and functional. My daughter has been taking the mini lunch box to school every day. It is the perfect size for child's school lunch and she seems to enjoy it as well. The regular lunch tote is actually quite roomy. We took it with us hiking … [Read more...]
