Valentine’s Day is that special time when you try and lure your true love. Or perhaps you show appreciation for the true love you have already found. Either way sweet smelling aromas have been used to lure and entice throughout history. Not only are they appealing they can also create euphoric feelings when inhaled or applied topically to the skin. Scents can be powerful.
The most commonly known and used aphrodisiac essential oils are: jasmine, neroli, rose, ylang ylang, and sandalwood. Oils known to arouse are: Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Clove, Patchouli, Pine and Vetiver.
Here are a few of the numerous ways you can fall in love with essential oils during the Valentine’s holiday…
Sugar scrubs – Make a DIY sugar scrub and add peppermint, lavender, lemongrass, or ylang ylang.
Sexy massage oil – Make a DIY massage oil to stimulate the senses using almond or avocado oil along with ylang ylang, peppermint, & black pepper!
Oily perfumes – Oils make great, natural perfumes. This article has a bunch of suggested oils and blends to wear as perfume but you cannot go wrong with white angelica, rose, ylang ylang, or bergamot. My personal fave is a blend called SclarEssence.
Foot scrubs – After a hard day at the office or wrangling kids, liven up your feet for the big night with a mojito scrub…sugar mixed with peppermint and lime oils. Then go out for the real thing afterwards.
Diffuser necklace – Take the scents of love with you when you go out…add some ylang ylang, joy blend, jasmine, or bergamot to your diffuser necklace or diffuser bracelet.
Tone up – Make your own skin toner with witch hazel and a few drops of lavender and frankincense. They are great for the skin.
Pre-date bath – Add some lavender (and epsom salts) to the bath along with some coconut oil. Your skin will look and feel amazing. Or try this arousing blend below…
Romantic Essential Oils Milk Bath
Jasmine – 4 drops
Ginger – 4 drops
Clary Sage – 4 drops
Black Pepper – 1 drop
Mix the oils in a cup of milk and add to a hot bath. Oolala!
Feel the Sensation – Add Young Living’s Sensation blend (diluted in almond oil) to your inner thighs to get in the mood. Also diffuse it in your bedroom along with orange oil. It has Coriander, Ylang ylang, Bergamot, Jasmine, and Geranium oils.
Coffee Scrub & Oily Body Polish – Take a cup of coffee grounds, a 1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil or avocado oil, and orange, grapefruit, and sensation essential oils. Love it!
Linen Spray – Spray your bed linens with a DIY spray. Just add a 10 drops of lavender or ylang ylang to one ounce of witch hazel. Voila!
Baths Salt For Him – For men use Idaho balsam fir, Sacred Mountain and northern lights black spruce.
Enjoy!
These are some wonderful ideas for using essential oils on Valentine’s day or any day! I would love to try some of these.
I really love all of your ideas! I’ve made a peppermint foot scrub similar to yours before and it certainly helps with painful arches. Patchouli is definitely one of faves!
I have a solid perfume with ylang-ylang and it is the best thing I’ve ever smelled. The label is mostly rubbed of and I’m not sure where it came from but I’m going to be so sad when it’s gone!
These are great tips. I love the milk bath recipe. Essential Oils are amazing with all of their uses.
I also love these tips and especially love the foot scrubs! Pinning for later for sure. Thank you
I am just starting to get on the bandwagon for essential oils. This is a great list of tips that I may just try!
This is my kind of use for essential oils!
