Being a mom that is greatly concerned with the health of the environment AND the health of my family…it is no wonder that the subject of food and cooking is one I think about often. I am always looking for new sources of local food and new ways to make meals easy healthy, and fast. I was very intrigued when I heard about the patented Glorious One-Pot Meals cooking system created by Elizabeth Yarnell.
It is everything I hoped it would be and the BEST part about it is that it incorporates Dutch ovens and mine was being terribly neglected. Well not any more!
This awesome book shows you how you can prepare an entree, a starch, and a variety of vegetable side dishes all in one pot and with only 20 minutes in the kitchen. It just can’t get any easier to create healthy, whole foods that will make the entire family happy.
Now you might be comparing the method I describe above to cooking in a crock pot or a casserole dish but this method is so much better. Dishes cooked in crockpot and casserole dishes meld together but with Glorious One-Pot Meal method all ingredients retain their shape and individual integrity. When you are serving your family no one will know that each portion of the meal wasn’t cooked separately. Your fish and pasta will remain fish and pasta and not a fish surprise casserole dish. You also don’t have to worry about crockpot mush or silvery colored veggies.
The book also helps you select a Dutch oven if you don’t already have one and it gives guidelines for cooking times so you can invent your own recipes and still use the One-Pot Meal method. But the recipes in the book should keep you satisifed for quite a while.
Here is a sampling of some of the delicious recipes in the book:
New England Fish Chowder
Stuffed Cabbage Leaves
Scallops and Sweet Potatoes
Sweet and Spicy Tofu
Citrus-Ginger Chicken wit Root Vegetables
Tandoori Salmon with Kale
And don’t forget to check out the healthy pantry resources at the back of the book. Busy moms everywhere and Dutch oven fans need this cookbook!
