Friday Wrap Up – Salad Boredom No More!

Friday Wrap Up – Salad Boredom No More!

Have a great weekend everyone! I leave you with a few cool links to check out over the weekend.

friday wrap upFirst, did you see it?! I have been named a Green Mom Extraordinaire by Green Mom Finds. Read my interview here. I am so happy that people are enjoying this blog AND I am ecstatic at the amount of questions I get via email now. Keep them coming and I will try to address them here. If you know of any topics that I should cover just contact me. :)

I am always on the lookout for ways to save money and resources by way of my energy usage. I found an awesome new blog called Energy Boomer written by a guy that lives about 45 minutes away from me. One of his latest posts I found particularly interesting about how we should save money by spinning twice. It is a good read.

I wrote a post over on my cloth diaper blog about how Prefolds are the New Pink! Some cool diapering finds awoke my sleeping hyena.

I spied a cool gift idea at Green Kits. They offer complete packages or kits of green products in a variety of themes. Need a housewarming gift? Why not try their green cleaning kit? Need a baby shower gift? Why not try their green baby kit? Pretty nifty…

I also found a cool company that recycles wool (from sweaters maybe?) into mittens. Their mismatched mittens get polar fleece cuffs and vintage buttons to make art work for the hands. They are gorgeous!

Last up…my friend Carrie over Natural Moms Talk Radio resolved to eat more veggies for 2008 so to that end she has release a fun e-book called the 365 Salad Recipe Collection. It has a salad for every day of the year so you never get salad boredom! She was kind enough to gift me a copy and I am pretty excited about all my salad prospects…Drunken Chicken Salad, Frozen Cranberry Salad, Glass Noodle Salad, Oprah’s Mock Caesar Salad…yum! This will come in handy when I am planning meals with the veggies I grow in my garden or ones that come in my CSA box.

The wool mittens look so warm!!! I would get a bunch of them if I could afford them!!
Thanks for sharing….your blog is the best!!!

  2. I’d love to hear more about green cleaners that work well. I know there are plenty on the market, I’ve tried a ton! So far I’ve spent a small fortune, but I haven’t found any that work well. There are some with no smell, a light fragrance, and crazy-strong fragrance which makes me think no way it can be green. I’m especially interested in something to clean my tub and tile and dishwashing detergent. Any luck so far in your search?

Heather, I just came across a site called broomhuggers (http://broomhuggers.com) which talks about cleaning products from someone who cleans for a living. It is a great site. She helped me with my shower doors since the green product I was using just did not cut it (literally). Everyone, check it out.

I have also read Energy Boomer’s site as well and Tiffany is right. He has some great posts.

Tiffany, I love the wool mitten idea. Anna http://www.green-talk.com

  4. I really have to say this has become one of my favorite blogs. My husband even likes it too! Between the intense commenting about vaccines, and great book reviews and other cool stuff, you can’t go wrong. Anyway, I’m sick and may come across like I’m not thinking clearly but figured I’d let you know that you’re blog is appreciated and enjoyed!

Looove your site and looove the mittens too. I checked out the baabaaZuzu site and it looks like they also make jackets, scarves and hats!

I am also interested in the cleaning products and wanted to thank Anna for her input.

Prefolds are back? I guess I’m out of style then, I’m rushing fitted diapers and wool covers now that all my diapers were destroyed in our house fire. I admit they are pretty cute though.

This is not necessarily relevant to this post but I wanted to ask about organic mattresses. I believe they are very important but very costly. Do you have them for your children? Which one do you recommend? Thanks!
