Farm to Table or Why I LOVE Summer

Farm to Table or Why I LOVE Summer

Farmer’s market produce, herbs and veggies from our own garden, grass fed butter, apple pie, Amish egg noodles, and homemade blueberry or peach frozen yogurt. Can summer be any more delicious??? Ask me again in Fall when I may just be singing the praises of apple butter, cider, and pumpkin pie… but for now summer is the yummiest season ever.

What are you eating this summer?

  1. My husband and I are wanting to slowly go the whole foods and organic route with our eating. Its quite difficult considering his family is from the south and cooks some great southern food, made with alot of butter. Our idea of switching to this healthier lifestyle consisted of meals that we probably wouldn’t enjoy near as much. But, the foods your describing and the pictures that your show, I just wonder where you get the recipes to all of them? Also, we don’t have a whole food store around us. But, we go to the farmers market on weekends when they are open. What do you suggest when buying other foods?
    Thanks! and love your blog

    • Chelsey, we shop farmer’s markets, online specialty stores, Whole Foods, Costco, and we grow some of our own food.

  2. What I really want to say is that I’m eating at your house! :)

This summer I got my first CSA share. I’m love freezing the vegetables we can’t eat now for later, when we will have to rely on frozen vegetables a bit more than fresh from the farm. It’s introduced us to a few new foods like kohlrabi and using beat greens in salads – a yummy addition I haven’t tried until now. I’m the only beet eater in the family so I don’t buy them often.

Oh my god, everything looks so fresh and delicious! That pasta with teh mushrooms, and those super red tomatoes with cheese on top of them (that’s cheese right?) sustainable and yummy. could it be any better? :)

I completely agree with you! My fiance and I love goin out every Saturday morning to the farmers market down the road to get our produce for the coming week. Not only is it more healthy for us to eat, but its healthy for our relationsip as well to get out and do things like this together:)
