Not a bath person? Me neither. Of course my master bath is tiny so I do not even have a bathtub. I do try and create a totally relaxing, zen, spa-like experience in my shower though. It is actually pretty easy to accomplish and the perfect way to pamper and care for yourself after a tough day. Now, I wish I had a shower like the one above…I would even take the tub. But alas that is totally NOT my bathroom. #goals
My bathroom is super small and even though I just renovated it, I did not have much space or budget to work with. All I knew is that I wanted something brighter and more relaxing. I ended up with a space I actually love. I picked every element and it just fits me. It is bright, beachy, and spa like. But it is still small so the spa like feel is achieved with decor and other additions.
How can you make your bathroom feel more like a spa without a remodel? By bringing in some new elements…
Zen Music – Get an inexpensive bluetooth speaker made for the shower. Then turn to Amazon for some spa music or even nature sounds like waves crashing or rainfall… and play it via your phone for a relaxing, soothing experience. Zen Garden is my personal fave at the moment. It is heaven!!
Mood Lighting – I like having a bright bathroom but sometimes I want something more soothing and relaxing, like candlelight. You can use actual candles or flameless LED candles. If you can see it the little star on my bathroom shelf is actually a light. I have several and they create a lovely muted glow for my showers. A salt lamp would also work.
New Shower Head – A relatively quick and inexpensive change that can add big bang is a new shower head. You can even get one with massage jets.
Cucumber Water – Pre-shower, drink water out of a pretty glass with fresh cucumber slices in it… just like at the spa.
Aroma for the Senses – If you want your shower to smell amazing try a shower bomb or add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a washcloth and then lay it in the path of the shower head. Lavender, roman chamomile, ylang ylang, sweet marjoram, and vetiver make great choices prior to bedtime.
Spa Products – Might be the time to invest in some natural bristle brushes, pumice stones, loofahs and sea sponges. And since you probably won’t be doing your spa shower every night, splurge on some really good beauty products such as French Girl Sea Salt Body Polish or your favorite salon shampoo.
Quality Bath Towels – Don’t skimp on the towels if you want that spa feeling. I prefer Turkish bath towels ever since I picked one up on clearance at TJ Maxx. Even on clearance the towel was pricey but I fell in love from the first touch.
A Spa Robe – Sometimes the big poofy, white robe is important.
