Rainbow Spaghetti for Sensory Play

Rainbow Spaghetti for Sensory Play

My husband and I took our six year old kiddo to an Early Learning class at our local Science Center this morning. It was oodles of fun for all but out of the five learning/fun stations available my son would only participate in one. It was the one that had bugs of course…cockroaches, worms, and banana slugs. Once he saw those he didn’t care to play with paints, ooblek, blocks, etc. Nothing else could compete with bugs.

I could not resist the rainbow spaghetti sensory tub however and I think I will actually break down and buy some pasta this summer, though not to eat.

We have plenty of GLOB natural paints that will work perfectly for this.

The video below gives instructions though we will likely skip the plastic baggies and just use our glass refrigerator dishes.

  1. This looks so fun! We may have to do this as well… great activity for a hot summer day. :)

  2. It was really fun and would be a great little (COLORFUL!) addition to a birthday party!

  3. Do you just food coloring  or do you need a special paint? Looks like so much fun. I might add it to my son’s party next week!

  4. I loved the rainbow spaghetti at COSI, too. But oh my gosh, my daughter preferred the bugs too! I’ve always avoided workshops with dirt or bugs in the title, and now I see I was wrong all that time – she adores that stuff! There’s not enough hand sanitizer in the world…  ;)
