In the past I have been a flip-flop addict of sorts. Years ago it was not uncommon for me to have 10 or more pairs... of JUST flip-flops. In recent years though I curtailed my habit because they are generally so flimsy (lasting only one season) and they are heavy on plastics and foam. They were just a nightmare in the green department. The Shelter Pet Project
It amazes me that with so many animals living in shelters that we STILL have a need for pet stores and puppy breeders. It bothers me on so many levels. Even people who don't profess to be "green" will often talk a good game about recycling and reusing because it is smart and efficient. But that's resources. We can't waste resources. Go Green! Go Barefoot!
I am a HUGE fan of Barefoot Books. My kids have many of their titles, some of which I reviewed here, like Whole World and The Boy Who Grew Flowers. Whole World is an amazing book with a music CD and it follows the popular children’s song The Whole World. Eco-quizes, minibeasts word search, recycling game, draw your ideal home… Children will love … [Read more...]

For me, green living is a huge part of natural mothering and green living and a life of frugality go together like peanut butter and jelly. Think about it. What are some of the key areas of green … [Read more...]

Under the legislation approved by the city's Board of Supervisors, large supermarkets and drugstores will not be allowed to offer plastic bags made from petroleum products starting in six months. All of this is being done to reduce the amount of plastic bags being consumed and ending up in our landfills and to encourage recycling. Since … [Read more...]
