New Year's Resolutions and Reflections

by Tiffany in Tidbits

I absolutely love New Year’s. I don’t know why but it really does feel like you get a shiny new package full of possibility…a fresh start. Last year was a good one, but even so I am ready for a new one.

Last year I ended Chemotherapy and put my cancer to rest (hopefully forever). I moved from sunny Arizona to Ohio. I saw my oldest son heal (epilepsy). I moved into a home that I love. And the best part of last year was that my relationship with my husband evolved into something that takes my breathe away. It might seem strange to say but cancer might have been the best thing to ever happen to me. Being so sick for so long taught me some valuable life lessons and it changed my entire family.

I sat down yesterday and outlined goals and resolutions…a few of which I will share:

This year resolve to spend more time (alone) with my husband. I will tell him every day that he is my greatest love and my best friend. I will read more books and fewer blogs. I will buy less “stuff”. I will get more active in my community. I will eat more raw/living foods. I will find some form of exercise that I love as much as I liked my daily hikes in Arizona. I will quit wondering if this location is right for me and just plant some roots already. I will laugh with abandon. I will use my video camera more. I will find a babysitter I can trust so that I can spend more time doing the things that I love. I will find more time for myself this year. I will recapture some of my youthful vitality.

Now of course I do have some more specific goals for different aspects of my life, including goals for personal development, business, my relationships, parenting, ect. but I won’t bore you with all of them. Although I did post about my green goals. Let me just wish you a Happy New Year and invite you to share with me some of your goals and hopes for the new year. I like your idea of focusing on more books over blogs. I’ve tried to combine by sharing nuggets from books I read, in a blog for my family, friends, and those I mentor at http://thebookshare.blogspot.com

If feed reading is taking too much time, take a look at some practical tips on Tim’s site – http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/12/28/12-filtering-tips-for-better-information-in-half-the-time-rss-delicious-and-stumbleupon/.

Take care and happy New Year

Thanks for getting us to think a little harder about our green goals for this year. We worked pretty hard last year to improve our lives greenwise, but we still have a long way to go. I’m glad I took the time to write down 5 more changes we can make…Xxx

Aaaaah, alone time with your husband….SO important! My husband and I have a weekly ‘date night’ at home. We put the kids to bed a bit early and then have dinner or snacks and some wine and a chance to talk. It makes a difference!
(P.S. Sorry about all the links…Mr. Linky was acting up!)

Beautiful post and peak into your life. I love the resolution to spend more alone time with your hubby. It makes me so sad when my friends don’t get that…or make it top priority. I don’t know what my marriage would look like if we didn’t go out and spend time alone every month.
