Just had to share a video I spotted this weekend called Poopin 2.0. I have watched a lot of Underground Wellness videos but I never saw this one and he is talking about a HUGELY important subject. I used to be one of those people that was squeamish and embarrassed to talk about poop but getting colon cancer at age 28 kind of cures you of that. Watch the video and learn. It is kind of colorful and may make you uncomfortable but get over it!
I use an overturned bucket in my bathroom, kind of like how the video guy is using a box for proper toilet alignment. I have to whole heartedly agree with what he says about needing very little toilet paper too!
Eventually, I really would like to get a Squatty Potty. I think it would look better in the bathroom than a bucket. ;)
Lol. My boyfriend thinks I’m weird for wanting one of those. Now I can show him this video. He responds better to youtube. :P
Oh also, I use my daughter’s stool. You know, the one she uses to brush her teeth. I confess, that stool gets a lot of action.
I think I have one of those in the basement. I should go look or it!
I don’t think I could ever convince my husband. Too bad because we go through a loooot of TP. btw, I have been wondering for a while what people used before toilet paper as we know it was invented. Perhaps they didn’t need anything at all? Sounds like it, if they were squatting to poo.
Love it. Wish there was more stuff out there for bodily functions and health. Thanks for sharing.
I have been on a tear about poop lately, probably because I’m pregnant and it’s so hard to have a normal poop schedule right now. Argh! I struggle with this issue anyway, but during pregnancy it’s especially a problem.
I use a stepstool (because there’s always one in the bathroom for little ones) to prop my feet. The other day I printed out the Bristol stool chart and discussed it with the kids. I told them to please come to me if they didn’t have an ideal poop. LOL
After watching the video, I wanted to add that noone should be straining or grimacing to poop no matter what position they do it in. Babies and toddlers don’t strain. Poop should have a soft texture, and be as easy to pass as urine. Poops that are too big and hard and that require straining are also constipation, no matter how frequently they happen. The website FiberMenace.com has helped me a LOT with this lifelong struggle.
Very informative, and funny…even though it is no laughing matter. I’m going to try to get my hubby to sit through the whole video…see if it changes his mind at all. Thanks for sharing!
As a Muslim, we are to clean ourselves with water after we urinate or defecate…. We are also instructed by the Prophet (saw) to use our left hand for this. And to use our right hand for eating. Which cuts down on cross contamination. And of course we wash our hands with soap as well. As for my husband and I, we use our detachable shower head and clean ourselves with that each time. Cuts way down on paper use and we know that we are clean afterwards. Alhamdullilah This is a practice every person should do. Especially men and little boys who tend not to wipe very well and leave stains behind. How nasty is that??? Also, Muslim men sit when they urinate. Cutting down on the splash factor because we are not to pray with soiled clothes. And not only do they sit, but they wash themselves and dry themselves before they pull their pants back up. Alhamdullilah This might be too much info for some, but it is the laws and guidance of Allah and His Messenger (saw) :)
