Cool product alert!! I am super excited to have found these in my Internet browsing this morning. While I do have more than enough reusable bags there are just times when I forget them. Yes, I put them in the car, I often carry a pocket size bag in my purse even but once I use that and carry it in the house, I am so bad about remembering to put them back. I have ended up getting paper bags more often than I would like to admit.
These shopping cart baskets may be just what I need. They are supposed to be big in Europe and Reusit is the first US company offering them here. You stick them inside the shopping cart and fill them with groceries. Then you take them out to put on the store conveyor belt for purchase and just ask the bagging clerk to forgo bagging and fill the baskets again. How easy is that???
No more eye rolling and sighs from store clerks who don’t want to fill your reusable bags, heck they don’t have to bag at all so their job just got a lot easier. And in seconds you can have everything loaded into the car to take home. I would guess that these would be heavy though so my plan would be to transfer groceries from the baskets to large reusable bags when I get home. This way it wouldn’t mater if I forgot my bags and the baskets would just always be in the trunk where they belong. OR I could have the husband do the heavy lifting… that works too. ;)
Anyway, I thought these could be really useful and I love that in a day and age when everyone is jumping on the green bandwagon and half the stuff I see out there is only mildly helpful, if at all. I could definitely use these.
I thought they were neat as well! You are right though, it would be heavy.
These are awesome! I have to get a couple.
These do look uber cool!
I’m surprised your store clerks act miffed when you bring your own bags. Maybe it’s because we live in Seattle and everybody is into it here, but our store clerks seem to like it more when we bring our own bags.
It’s not only great for the environment but I get 5 cents off for each bag I bring and use.
Our Home Depot had them with the Home Depot logo (in HD orange of course) for $2.00 each on clearance. Not sure if it’s something that all stores and regions have but worth a check.
Hmm. They look neat, but I am a little worried about the weight factor, yes. So far, I love the pocket-sized bags that fold into their own sack and have clips…because when I empty them, I promptly fold them back up and clip them to my purse (if they don’t need washing). Thus making them the only reusable bags yet that I don’t forget more often than I use them!
What a great idea, I HATE all the plastic bag, but don’t want to carry 20 reusable ones either, this is a GREAT medium. Plus, you know all your stuff will fit because you load your bags in the cart. Thanks for sharing
Yes, these are big here in London. People do a lot of walking and need to make sure they don’t buy more than they can carry. (even to the car when you have to park 2 blocks away!) I use my American Whole Foods bags that I have owned for years now. Have to keep remembering to wash them periodically though!
Best new product I’ve seen in awhile! I have a market tote that gets lots of use and is easy as this for the market but it doesn’t translate to grocery shopping as well, this looks awesome!
Great product. Terrific idea. Keeps your items clean from touching the carts too. Thanks
For anyone shopping with a car, these have to be a real boon. What a way to save, and so easy to schlepp from store to car to house.

Being German, I brought a few of these bulk tote bags from Germany and use them every time I shop in the supermarket. I had so many enquiries that I decided to import them and open a small business. You can order them online at mhgogreen.com. They come also with a cooler compartment or as a freezer bag.

What is that ? You planning to load bags before arrive to cashier ?
And then unload and load again?
Ridiculous !!!
You simply put all the stuff in the cart like you usually do, then put it on the belt like you usually do. Instead of bagging the items though, the cashier just puts them back in the cart, where your cart baskets are. The cart baskets go from cart to trunk, easy.
I remember I got something similar as a promotional gift when my local Home Depot opened. It is like a regular reusable bag, but had elastic around the top. It also had a clasp on either side which grabbed onto the cart. I believe it sells for $3 now, and I’m happy I got one for free, but I would not purchase it, because of the price.
