Tru Kid Organic Hair Care for Kids

Okay I really think I am in love with the TruKid line of natural organic products for kiddos. Yes, I have almost tried every product in their line-up now and it is indeed love at first use.

I first mentioned TruKid products in reference to their amazing safe sunscreen for kids called Sunny Days. It is was/is one of my top picks and now the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has given it the thumbs up, making it #2 on their list of safe sunscreens. It is free of chemical nasties, paraben free, and has certified organic ingredients. Oh and the SPF is 30+. It has a deliciously yummy smell too…very clean…perhaps from some of the ingredients like cucumber and green tea.

This week my daughter has been given a big thumbs up to the TruKid Cool Conditioner and the TruKid Dancing Detangler. She has long, waist length hair that has a tendency to get tangled..especially since she likes to “chew” on her hair…yuck. Anyway tangles and “rats” have always been an issue so I reluctantly used Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles in a Strawberry Sensations scent on her hair. Thanks to TruKid though we can ditch the Johnson’s product. Just look at an ingredient comparison:

Johnson's No More Tangle versus Tru Kid Dancing Detangler

Johnson’s Kids No More Tangles Strawberry Sensations: water, Behntrimonium Methosulfate, Sodium Benzoate, Dimethicone, Hydroxyethyl Behenamidopropyl Dimonium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Trisiloxane, Citric Acid, Ceteth-10, Lareth-4, Fragrance

TruKid Dancing Detangler: water, aloe vera, glycerin, pro-vitamin B5, soy protein, polysorbate 20, extracts of arnica, lavender, chamomile, calendula, white tea, phenoxyethanol, ethylexylglycerin, essential oil blend.

The cool conditioner ingredients are pretty similar to the detangler.

The Dancing Detangler doesn’t detangle quite as well as Johnson’s I will be honest. But if I use the cool conditioner on her hair first there is no noticeable difference save a great reduction in chemicals on her head! I also noticed that the Dancing Detangler doesn’t leave her hair feeling sticky and greasy either. These are a couple products we feel good about having around the house. ;)

Made from natural ingredients and essential oils, TruKid products are safe, non-toxic and paraben, SLS and phthalate free. The line includes sunscreen, soaps, moisturizers, face and body wash, shampoos, lip balms and even an on-the-go Hero Stick to treat cuts and boo boos. We plan on highlighting some more of them real soon!

Thanks so much for recommending the trukid line. I am putting in an order right now. I found a coupon online, GROOVY20 and I got 20%off my order. I think you have to spend $25 to get the discount. yay!

Wow, I’m going to look for this. Thanks!

  4. I adore the entire TruKid line. They have a detangling spray too which works pretty good for post bath tangles or bed head. I use it on myself at the beach too.

  7. Exciting, I’ve used the Johnson’s stuff, but good to know there is a better, more natural alternative. Thanks for the tip!

You could also use your regular conditioner by combing a little through the hair or I have my daughter comb her hair while in the tub or shower.

You should also check out http://www.californiababy.com. I recently discovered a few of their products at Target, went online and found a great selection (Target apparantly carries a limited selection). My daughter has very sensitive skin and a little bit of ezcema. The shampoo, conditioner and hair detangler work wonders on my daughter’s curly hair, it is so shiny and soft. The Super Sensitive lotion cleared up her ezcema in less than a week and her skin is so unbelievably soft. They also have a chemical free sunblock which I love, as well as a chemical free bug spray. The bug spray and the sunblock work wonderfully as well. I am very impressed with their products. They are chemical free, organic, cruelty free. Wonderful products and I feel so good about using them on my daughter!!!!

I also love the TruKid line! I used to use California Baby products on my kids, but they honestly hated the “oatmeal, funny natural” smell (as they described it). The TruKid line smells amazing! Even my husband likes the smell of the sunscreen ;) The Hero stick you mentioned is my absolute favorite product though- my youngest daughter had eczema behind her knees and in the crook of her elbow which the hero stick cleared up in just a week of using it! A friend recommended me to the product and I’m so glad I followed her advice. I was afraid I’d never get rid of her eczema and she and I are both thrilled. Way to go TruKid!

oh my goodness! I bought the TruKid sunscreen some time ago, and my family loved it! I just decided to try more of their line, and got the hair care for my daughter (she has psoriasis on her scalp & is extremely sensitive to everything!) The products not only worked great, smelled great, and have great ingredients, but her hair was shiny, & tangle-free!
    Truly awesome!
