Yesterday kicked off the winter hiking series at our local Columbus Metro Parks. I have said it before but it is always worth repeating... the Columbus Metro Parks are pure awesomeness. All year long they arrange fun stuff for families and it is usually free. Where I was raised a patch of green grass with a baseball diamond and a swing set was called a park. Here the parks are full of wild, forested land and swamps, ponds, or rivers with trails winding through. Each park is diverse and unique … [Read more...]

It’s a Wrap – Stinky Bathrooms, Nature Stimulus, and Meatloaf
TGIF! Have an awesome weekend everyone! Occasionally I do a link round up to highlight all the cool stuff I have come across lately. It is also nice to do a more "fluffy" post when I am short on time and that I am right now. I leave this weekend for Detroit to attend Ford's Innovation & Design Fantasy Camp and NAIAS, (#FordNAIAS). I was invited by Ford and they are putting me up while I am there. They also invited several of my green bloggy friends and we will hopefully get to pal around … [Read more...]
Raw, Veggie, and Gluten Free Cookbooks
A couple months ago I accepted some cookbooks to review. At the time they either perfectly complimented my diet or I was just curious to take a look. Now the ones that were perfect are less so, as I start my journey with paleo, and the one that I was simply curious about is not as much help as I would have hoped. I don't typically make New Year's resolutions but I am feeling rather inspired for 2012. I had two goals for 2011 that I set for myself on March 1st (does that count?) to really concentrate on fitness and exercise and to also make more time for me. I guess I just decided that I needed to allow myself to be more than a mom now that my kids are getting older. I blew those goals out of the water and since I am feeling pretty empowered by those successes I think it is time to set some more goals. No … [Read more...]
New Year, New You with Newsky Shoes
This morning I hit the gym for the first time of 2012. Not only did I feel like the energizer bunny (thanks to paleo/primal foods!) I wore some new athletic shoes thanks to the fine people at PlanetShoes. Last month they sent me a pair of the "new" New Balance shoes, called NewSky. I already have some New Balance minimalist shoes in black and pink, though not this version and I love them so I was excited to try NewSky. I absolutely adore the blue/grey coloring (I was getting sick of pink) and … [Read more...]
